About this website:
This is a one-person project started by myself a couple of years ago, to show off my aviation photos taken in various locations around the globe, including Tokyo, Osaka, Amsterdam, Sydney, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Manchester, Dublin and Luton, as well as regular trips to London Heathrow. Aviation photography is a hobby that is easy to fit into your travels and a few hours at an airport during a trip away can result in a lot of photos. Over the coming years I am hoping to visit many more airports around the world during my travels in pursuit of aircraft to photograph.
I am in my late 40s, and live on the South Coast of England. When not photographing aircraft, I love travelling (when my finances let me), sketching, swimming and heavy metal rock music, particularly black metal, death metal, thrash and folk metal.
I am a co-author of a new book 'Airports Days and Nights' which was published in April 2017, sold out and then was re-published in December 2017. I have also had photos published in Airliner World and Airports of the World.
What I use:
I believe in having the best equipment you can afford; however, that does not necessarily mean rushing out to your local camera store and buying the biggest telephoto lens you can carry, but getting the best your budget will allow. There are also great deals in the second hand market too, which is where three of my lenses and one of my cameras came from.
Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 G
Nikon 70-200mm f/4 G ED VR
Nikon 300mm f/2.8 AF-S (I)
Nikon 80-400G f/4.5-5.6 VR
As both my cameras have an inconvenient mix of memory cards (Compact Flash and Secure Digital in the D810, and XQD and Secure Digital in the D500) I have quite the collection of Sandisk 32Gb and 64Gb SD and CF memory cards plus 64Gb and 32Gb Sony XQD cards.
Think Tank Streetwalker v2.0 backpack
Think Tank Airport Takeoff v2.0 hybrid backpack/roller bag
A 'Lens Skirt' which can be attached to hotel and airport windows, etc., to eliminate reflections when shooting through glass. Invaluable!
