About - Flightline Photography UK

About me:

My name is Fay and I currently live on the Isle of Wight (UK). I have always had a fascination with aircraft but was photographing ships for many years before I eventually got hooked, in 2014, on aviation photography.

I've found that aviation photography is addictive and since taking it up I have travelled to Tokyo, Osaka, Amsterdam, Sydney, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Manchester, Dublin and Luton as well as regular trips to London Heathrow. Aviation photography is a hobby that is easy to fit into your travels and a few hours at an airport during a trip away can result in a lot of photos. Over the coming years I am hoping to visit many more airports around the world during my travels in pursuit of aircraft to photograph.

My interests mostly lie with civilian aircraft, especially airliners. I think my liking for aircraft has come from my love of travel. Ever since I was small I dreamed of faraway places and, by extension, the means of getting there. My favourite plane is the Boeing 777 (all variants) although the 747 is also up there as well. I don't find modern aircraft boring, despite the twin-engined jets taking over from three- and four-engined aircraft, as I like them as individuals and I never get tired of 777s, A330s or A350s! Also, from a photographic standpoint, it's not just about spotting and collecting air-frames it's also about the places, the atmosphere and getting the best photo possible.

I am a co-author of a new book 'Airports Days and Nights' which was published in April 2017, sold out and then was re-published in December 2017. I have had photos published in Airliner World and Airports of the World.

I have other interests as well, among them astronomy, wildlife, urban sketching  and rock music.

As a lot of photographers are interested in photo gear this is what I currently (January 2018) use...I believe in having the best equipment you can afford; that does not necessarily mean the best there is - most of us can't afford or justify a D5 or 500mm prime telephoto - but the best your budget will allow because, that way, you will not be dissatisfied.
